Mount Karangetang is still on alert level III. The public is asked to comply with the rules for not doing activities 2.5 kilometers from the main crater.
Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Sitaro Islands BPBD, Sonny Belseran also asked residents to stay away 3.5 kilometers in the south and southeast sectors.
"This means that the public must remain vigilant and follow the recommendations issued by the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation or PVMBG," he said in Manado, North Sulawesi (Sulut), Wednesday, April 26, as reported by Antara.
He said coordination with personnel from the Karangetang Volcano Observation Post was still intensive, including the possibility of lowering its status to level II alerts.
"The information will be lowered in the near future, we are still waiting for the progress, what is certain is that the public must remain vigilant to avoid unwanted things," he said.
