Floods Submerge 15 Villages In Paser, East Kalimantan, Hundreds Of Families Affected
KALTIM - At least 15 villages in Paser Regency, East Kalimantan (Kaltim), were flooded due to heavy rains that have been pouring over the last few days.
The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) for Paser Regency said the two sub-districts which were flooded were Muara Komam and Long Kali Districts.
"Based on the monitoring, flooding in Muara Komam District continues to move from upstream to downstream. Out of the seven villages that were affected by the floods, five villages were isolated," said Ruslan.
Ruslan explained that seven villages in Muara Komam District and eight villages in Long Kali District were affected by the floods.
The five villages that were isolated due to the floods include Swan Slutung Village, Long Sayo, Muara Payang, Prayon, and Muara Kuaro Village.
Ruslan also said that the floods in the Long Kali sub-district had submerged eight villages. Meanwhile, the Telake Head area was isolated because the connecting road collapsed and caused the road to be cut off.
Meanwhile, in Muara Toyu Village, BPBD Paser noted that there were approximately 170 residents' houses submerged. Meanwhile, in Muara Pias Village, 10 heads of families have fled to their families who were not affected by the floods.
Meanwhile, in Long Kali District, eight villages were affected by the floods, namely Muara Toyu Village, Head of Telake, Munggu, Mendik, Bente Tualan, Sebakung, Muara Pias, and Long Kali Village.

Based on BPBD Paser records, he continued, there were 635 heads of families (KK) in Long Kali District who were affected by the floods.
Currently, there are three villages, namely Muara Toyu, Muara Pias, and Mendik, which have built public kitchens independently because the affected residents fled independently with their families.
"Currently the urgent needs of the flood victims are food, clean water, blankets, clothes, and baby diapers," he said.
Long Kali District Secretary M Arfah said all villages in Long Kali which were affected by the floods had built public kitchens to meet the needs of the community.
"The village head's instructions whose areas were affected by the floods are to build public kitchens," said Arfah.
The Long Kali District Government, he continued, together with elements of the sub-district leadership, BPBD, and the community, to provide evacuation assistance to the victims affected by the floods.
"The condition of the people affected by the floods, some of them survived and some of them were evacuated," he said.
