Marthino Lio Struggles To Bring Rimba Character Into Life In Mangkujiwo 2
JAKARTA - Marthino Lio is back with the big-screen horror film, Mangkujiwo 2. This is the second time the actor has been involved in a horror film, where he previously appeared in the film Pamali (2022).
In this film, Marthino plays Rimba, a newly introduced character who was not in the previous sequels. The 33-year-old actor will join other existing actors, such as Sudjiwo Tejo, Yasamin Jasem, Djenar Maesa Ayu, Karina Suwandi, and several other actors.
Marthino explained that the character being played is a person who tries to find out what happened in the past. “The jungle is a person who has lost his childhood. He is someone who knows that his father is gone, and he wants to find out how his father died," he said during a visit to the VOI office on Wednesday, January 18.
New Character
Regarding the continuation of his character's appearance with the story from the previous Mangkujiwo, Marthino doesn't want to say much. He hopes that the audience will witness it directly when watching.
How Rimba connects with existing characters, and how Rimba enters into conflict is one of the essences of the story in Mangkujiwo 2.
Leaking a bit, Marthino reveals the figure who is the center of the interactions between the characters. “(Everything) is connected from Mbah Jiwo. Because he is the mastermind behind it all,” he said.
Marthino also revealed the reasons why Mangkujiwo 2 will be far more interesting than the previous sequels, and is also worth watching earlier this year. “The reason why you should watch the film Mangkujiwo 2, is because all the actors here are legendary. They are all intelligent actors. And here the story is also much more sinister,“ he said.
The line-up of new actors presented in this second sequel, such as Widika Sidmore, Yayu Unru, Kiki Narendra, and Pritt Timothy seem to have added to the complete list of actors involved in this Mangkujiwo sequel.

Of the many senior actors, Marthino did not hesitate to say that he was lucky to be able to learn a lot directly from them.
“Here it really fits, the opponent is a storehouse of all knowledge. Ms Djenar, Ms Karina, Mr Yayu, Uncle Pritt, then Mbah Jiwo, his flying hours are above all. Well, I'm just sitting here, quiet and listening to them. The best way to learn," he concluded.
