M 6.3 Earthquake Shakes Gorontalo, Residents Are Dizzy And Running Out Of Their Houses In A Panic

GORONTALO - An earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 6.3 rocked Gorontalo on Wednesday 18 January morning. Residents ran out of the house in a panic, away from the building.

Oci, a resident of Gorontalo City, said that the earthquake she felt this time was different. She was swayed when she panicked out of the house.

"Usually when there is an earthquake there is a vibration, but this time it felt like it was rocking back and forth and it made me dizzy," said Oci, in Gorontalo, Wednesday, January 18, as reported by Antara.

Another Gorontalo resident, Neny Nasution, admitted that she felt the same way about Oci. She felt dizzy when she felt the M 6,3 vibration.

"I feel dizzy because the shaking is different from usual earthquakes, especially for quite a long time," said Neny.

An earthquake measuring M 6.3 in Gorontalo occurred on Wednesday 18 January at 08.34 WITA.

With a depth of 138 kilometers, the BMKG reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was at 0.07 south latitude and 123.28 east longitude.

The BMKG stated that the earthquake, which was centered in the sea 69 km southeast of Bone Bolango or 72 km southeast of Gorontalo City, had no potential for a tsunami.
