Defendant Of Paving Corruption At Banyuasin Leprosy Hospital, South Sumatra, Sentenced To 4.5 Years In Prison
SUMSEL - The panel of judges sentenced the defendant in the alleged corruption case to the Leprosy Dr. Arivai Abdullah Hospital (RS) project, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel), with a prison sentence of 4.5 years.
The sentence was handed down to the defendant Mujib Anwar (MA) as the Contractor Manager of PT.IS, for the Leprosy Hospital plaster construction project, Dr. Arivai Abdullah.
Chairman of the Panel of Judges at the Corruption Crime District Court (Tipikor) Palembang Sahlan Effendi in his decision stated that apart from a 4.5 year prison sentence, the accused Mujib was also subject to a fine of IDR 150 million, a subsidiary of two months in prison.
Then, the defendant was also subject to additional punishment in the form of paying compensation in the amount of IDR 10 million.
The judge stated that the replacement money must be paid by the defendant one month after the court decision has obtained permanent legal force (inkracht).

Meanwhile, if not, the defendant's property can be confiscated by the prosecutor and auctioned off to cover the replacement money. If it is still insufficient, an additional one-year imprisonment may be imposed.
According to the judge, the sentence was given to the defendant based on the legal facts obtained during the trial.
"The defendant has been legally and convincingly proven to have committed the crime of corruption together, as the two public prosecutors have indicted," said the judge at the Palembang Tipikor Court, Tuesday, January 17, as reported by Antara.
The judge explained that the defendant abused his authority until it was discovered that there was a volume deficiency in the construction of river water retaining sheet piles at the hospital building, in Mariana, Banyuasin Regency.
This demand is in accordance with Article 3 paragraph (1) of Law number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law number 20 of 2001.
The judge explained that based on expert calculations, the suspect's actions caused state losses of IDR 1.4 billion, of the construction contract value of IDR 12 billion using the Ministry of Health's 2017 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).
“I hereby order the accused to remain in detention,” said the judge.
