BPBD Estimates That Bangka Belitung Will Be Hit By Rob Floods Uuntil January 8

BANGKA BELITUNG - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) estimates that the Bangka Belitung Islands Province will experience tidal flooding for the next three days starting January 6.

The Head of the Bangka Regency BPBD, Ridwan, said the prediction of a rob until Sunday, January 8, was based on PT Timah, Tbk's tidal information list.

In addition to weather information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Ridwan said that his party is using PT Timah's tide information as a reference.

"I remind people in coastal areas to really pay attention to the current weather conditions which are still quite extreme, including fishermen who are forced to go out to sea to ensure complete safety equipment", he said in Sungailiat, Bangka Belitung, Friday, January 6, confiscated by Antara.

Apart from that period, tidal floods are predicted to occur in Bangka Regency from 21-23 January 2023.

The affected areas include Fishermen One and Fishermen Two Sungailiat, Sungailiat Drifting Water, and several other places.

Ridwan said an early warning for the tidal flood disaster was issued by the BPBD Maritime Meteorological Information Sub-Sector which is valid for a maximum of the next two days and will be updated immediately if there is a change and the validity period expires.

The interpretation of the wave and swell models used is the Ina-Waves Shallow Waters (SWAN) Prediction Map. For real-time data and forecasts of high and low tides, coordinate with the Dishidros TNI-AL and the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) as the official agency obligated to issue tidal information.
