Meta and Microsoft Partnership Will Create Future Virtual Work and Play Experiences

JAKARTA - Meta Platform Inc., announced its partnership with Microsoft to create new content such as bringing Microsoft's application, Teams to its metaverse.

This announcement was made live during the Meta Connect conference. Jeff Teper, President of Microsoft Applications and Collaboration Platforms said in a Microsoft blog that they will be bringing Mesh for Microsoft Teams to Meta Quest devices.

Teper reveals that Mesh for Teams is designed to help people get together virtually in a place where work is done on any device, including smartphones, laptops and mixed reality headsets.

"Mesh for Teams with Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 tools will allow people to connect and collaborate as if they were together in person," he continued.

Not only that, Microsoft 365 apps will also be available on Quest devices, allowing users to interact directly with their content from Word, Excel, PowerPoint and so on apps in VR.

"In the future, Windows 365 will also be available on Meta Quest devices, with the ability to stream Windows Cloud PCs including personalized apps, content and settings," explains Teper.

Microsoft Intune and Azure Active Directory will support Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2, with the hope that the security and management options provided from PCs and mobile devices will carry over to VR.

Lastly, the two tech giants are further exploring ways to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to the Meta Quest Store to allow gamers to stream hundreds of high-quality Xbox games to mobile phones, tablets, PCs, select smart TVs, and the Meta Quest platform.
