Tesla Had Just Showcased Their 'Humanoid' Robot Named Optimus
JAKARTA - The company led by Elon Musk, Tesla, has just showcased a "humanoid" robot named Optimus at the Tesla AI Day 2022 event in Palo Alto, California.
The robot with a human stature was prepared with a production cost of less than 20.000 US dollars or equivalent to IDR 306 million.
"There is still a lot to improve to perfect Optimus," said Elon while showing off Optimus as quoted by Reuters on Saturday, October 1.
Currently, Optimus is considered unable to solve problems on his own and requires further development of his "brain".
Elon believes Optimus will be able to enter the mass manufacturing process and be marketed in the industry.
At the time of exhibiting the Optimus robot, Tesla was able to ask Optimus to be able to perform simple tasks such as watering plants, carrying boxes of goods, to lifting metal pieces at the Tesla Factory production station in California.

However, Tesla believes that many polishing steps are still needed for Optimus to be a solution for the industry.
No exception to fulfill Tesla's desire to use this technology to replace human positions in workplaces such as factories.
In addition to Tesla, other automotive companies that have a similar vision today are Toyota and Honda.
They have developed a prototype humanoid robot capable of doing more difficult things than Optimus.
Tesla's move to showcase Optimus was actually aimed at recruiting more researchers to develop the robot's capabilities.
On the same occasion, Elon Musk also showcased the development of "self-driving" technology which has grown rapidly and can even make decisions faster in certain schemes when the steering is left to the software.
Related to that, Elon Musk expressed his desire for Tesla to achieve its goal of "self-driving" cars and mass-produce driverless robot taxis by 2024.
