14 Battalion Raider 600 personnel questioned regarding the deaths of residents in Mappi Papua

JAYAPURA - Commander of the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Command, Major General Muhammad Saleh Mustafa, said 18 personnel of the 600/Modang Raider Infantry Battalion will be questioned by the Merauke Military Police Sub Detachment regarding the death of a civilian in Mememu Village, Edera District, Mappi Regency, Papua.

"The 14 soldiers are scheduled to arrive in Merauke on Wednesday, September 14," said Saleh, in Jayapura, Papua, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 12.

Of the 14 personnel, there is a postal commander who will also be examined. This is because Bruno Amenim Kimko died on August 30, while at the Infantry Battalion Raider 600/Modang Post, which is part of the national border security task force.

According to Saleh, no one has been named as a suspect in the case, but if there is, then the person concerned will be processed by law, even though there has been a customary settlement. "The case is still being processed by law," he said.

Kimko was known to be at the Infantry Battalion Raider 600/Modang post after being detained with a colleague, Norbertus Kanggun, who was also reportedly injured. They were detained there after the residents reported to the TNI post and were taken to post.

Kimko's body was buried last September 1 at the Kampung Mememu Cemetry public, Edera District, Mappi Regency.
