Another Victim From Xavi's New Project In Barcelona, Puig Gets 'kicked' To MLS

JAKARTA - Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez, continues to run his new project. After bringing in a number of new players, Xavi is now starting to release some old players who are considered surplus.

Previously, Barcelona had released Philippe Coutinho, Oscar Mingueza, Dani Alves and Rey Manaz on a permanent basis. Meanwhile, Francisco Trincao and Clement Lenglet were loaned out to other clubs.

The next victim was Riqui Puig. The 22-year-old player was officially released to the Major League Soccer (MLS) club, LA Galaxy.

Puig is actually still under contract for another year with Barcelona. However, he was not included in Xavi's plans and had to be released in order to improve the club's finances.

Puig's move was officially announced by LA Galaxy on their social media accounts. His arrival was greeted by the club's coach, Greg Vanney.

"Riqui is a very well-educated and technical player with great experience for his age. He will fit perfectly into our squad and our style of play," Vanney told the club's official website.

Victims of the Xavi project is believed not to stop here. A number of media believe there will be other players who have to leave the Camp Nou.

The most widely reported is Frenkie de Jong. Then there is also the name Memphis Depay. Gerard Pigue is also mentioned in the list for sale.
