Roblox Has Been Hacked, 4GB Of Company Sensitive Data Posted As Extortion Effort
JAKARTA - Roblox was recently reported to have been hacked by criminals who managed to retrieve 4GB of sensitive data including email addresses, internal documents, and spreadsheets related to the creators focused on Roblox.
Not only taking sensitive data, according to a report from Vice, the perpetrator even posted a cache of documents that he managed to steal from employees on the game platform.
According to a further review of the material by Motherboard, the publication of the document was an attempt to extort the perpetrator against Roblox.
"These stolen documents were obtained illegally as part of a blackmail scheme that we refuse to cooperate with," Roblox told Motherboard in a statement.
Not only that, but Roblox also acted quickly upon learning of the incident. They have engaged independent experts to complement the information security team and have adapted their systems to detect and prevent similar attempts.

Motherboard had previously reported that hackers targeted the Roblox company and its workers, and even bribed Roblox insiders to obtain user data.
"Roblox has been actively investigating a phishing incident, involving a Roblox employee who was targeted by cybercriminals," the company wrote.
