2022 FIBA Asian Cup: Defeated By Jordan, Indonesia's Opportunity To The Quarter-Finals Still Open
JAKARTA — The Indonesian national basketball team came home with defeat from the second match of the 2022 FIBA Asian Cup Group A. The results were obtained in the match against Jordan.
Indonesia hosted Jordan at Istora Senayan, Jakarta on Thursday, July 14 evening western Indonesia time. Marques Terrell Bolden made surrendered with a score of 65-74.
In this match, Jordan appeared dominant in the first quarter and managed to lead 17-15. Indonesia then rose in the second quarter and successfully outperformed opponents 23-22.
In the third quarter Jordan appeared more vicious and successfully led with eight points 18-10. Unfortunately, in the last quarter, Indonesia was only able to close the game with the same score 17-17.
Bolden, who performed so brilliantly in the inaugural match against Saudi Arabia with 32 points, sluggish in the match this time. However, he was still able to carve out a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Even though they lost against Jordan, Indonesia's chances are still open to qualify for the quarter-finals. Either qualify directly as group winners or through the playoffs as the second or third-ranked team from Group A.

The 2022 FIBA Asian Cup is the only door for the Indonesian basketball national team to get tickets to the 2023 World Cup which will be held in Jakarta.
However, to qualify for the event, Indonesia must reach the last eight of the 16 teams playing in the Asian Cup. Previously, Indonesia's opportunity to qualify through the qualification route was closed.
That's because Red and White have always lost in six matches in Group C in the Asian Zone. The qualification took place from November last year to July this year.
