Less Than A Month, Special Region of Yogyakarta Police Arrest 42 Drug Abuse Suspects
YOGYAKARTA - The Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Police arrested 42 suspects in drug abuse cases during the Progo 2022 Narcotics Operation from June 27 to July 10 2022 in this area.
Deputy Director of the Directorate of Drugs at the DIY Police AKBP Bakti Andriyono at the DIY Police Headquarters, Sleman Regency, Tuesday, said that during the 14 days of the Progo 2022 Drug Operation, the police revealed 43 cases.
"Of the 43 cases, there are 42 suspects because there is one suspect involved in two cases", he said, quoted by Antara.
During the simultaneous operation, the police secured some evidence of narcotics abuse, including 65.09 grams of marijuana, 79.52 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 1,009 pills of psychotropic substances, and 5,768.5 grams of hard drugs, and 31.57 grams of gorilla tobacco.
According to Bakti, the Yogyakarta Regional Police and their ranks revealed 20 cases that were targeted for operations along with 23 cases that were not targeted for operations.
One of the prominent cases out of 43 cases revealed, he said, was the case of conspiracy to commit criminal acts of narcotics shabu-shabu through social media.

Three suspects related to the case with the initials AS, FH, and MNB were arrested on July 1, 2022, at around 22.30 WIB at Stage, Lumbungrejo, Tempel, and Sleman.
According to Bakti, the three bought crystal methamphetamine through social media accounts for IDR 550,000 with transactions via bank transfers.
Based on information from the three suspects, investigators then developed and arrested two perpetrators with the initials CT and JV who were placing several narcotics packages in several places in the Godean area, Sleman Regency.
"From the two perpetrators, evidence was confiscated in the form of two packages of 1 gram methamphetamine, a package of gorilla tobacco with a total of 4 grams. Currently, the evidence is still in the process of laboratory testing at Semarang Forensic Laboratory", he said.
For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 132 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (1) subsidiary Article 127 paragraph (1) letter and conjunction with Article 144 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
