Back In Operation, Police Control Illegal Gold Mine In Central Lombok

CENTRAL LOMBOK - Combined officers from the Central Lombok Police and the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) have brought order to an illegal gold mine in Bukit Prabu, Prabu Village, Pujut District.

Central Lombok Police Chief, AKBP Hery Indra Cahyono, said the control was carried out because the illegal gold mine was operating again. He said the effort was also to maintain a conservation area in the Central Lombok region.

"There are still local people who open new quarries to carry out illegal gold mining in the Prabu Village area, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency", he said in Praya, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), quoted from Antara, Friday, May 20.

Therefore, his party together with the joint apparatus controls illegal gold mining locations that have an impact on the environment. The controls include illegal mining sites belonging to the AH, K, and MO groups in Gunung Tinggang Hamlet, Prabu Village. At that location, 2 heavy equipment in the form of excavators and excavation location B (gold excavation) were found.

In addition, controlling the location belonging to LHS alias ML in Gunung Tinggang Hamlet, Prabu Village. At this location, 1 heavy piece of equipment in the form of an excavator and excavation site B was found.

"The owner of the illegal gold mine was brought to the Central Lombok Police to provide information regarding the illegal mining activity", he said.

He appealed to the people around the Mount Prabu area not to carry out illegal gold mining activities because it could damage the environment and cause floods and landslides.

"We hope that the community will jointly protect our environment for the advancement of tourism in Central Lombok", he said.
