Ahead Of Leg 1 Of The Champions League Quarter-finals Villarreal Vs Bayern Munich, Unai Emery Wants To Prove His Team Is Not Just A Surprise
JAKARTA - Villarreal will host Bayern Munich at the Estadio de la Ceramica in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, Thursday 7 April in the morning of Indonesian Western Time (WIB). Villarreal coach Unai Emery wants to put an end to the notion that his team are just a surprise team in this season's Champions League.
Villarreal's passage to the quarter-finals is indeed considered a surprise. After passing through the group stage trap, Villarreal was able to get rid of the Italian giants, Juventus, in the round of 16 with a 4-1 aggregate.
Emery hopes that his team can perform like when they got rid of Juventus, especially in the second leg where they won 3-0. He stressed, his team had to play perfect to get rid of Bayern Munich.
"We've passed the group stage against Manchester United and Atalanta and eliminated Juventus in a very competitive match with results that surpassed our expectations," Emery said, quoted by Antara.

"All those experiences and lessons made us question whether it is really a surprise (that we have reached the quarter-finals). We want everyone to recognize our value and presence here," he continued.
Emery believes the home advantage in the first leg will help Villarreal overcome the six-time European champions. He wants Villarreal to experience a special and unique moment at home.
"Our idea is to play smart in the first 90 minutes at home so our chances are alive in the second leg," said Emery.
"When opportunities arise, then you have to seize them and take your chances. That's what we will try to do," he concluded.
