Alex Rins Says Asphalt At Mandalika Circuit Final Corner Peeled During Race: Luckily No One Was Hurt
JAKARTA - Suzuki Ecstar racer, Alex Rins, revealed the conditions of the MotoGP race at the Mandalika Circuit, last weekend. He did not imagine if the race was held on a dry track.
According to him, the asphalt at the last corner of the Mandalika Circuit peeled off during the race. For that, he could not imagine what if the race was held on a dry track.
"I don't know (if we can race on a dry track) because the track conditions are very, very difficult. At the last corner, the asphalt started to peel off," Rins said, as quoted by Crash, Thursday, March 24.
"Even when wet, we felt the asphalt hitting us from the rider in front, so imagine if it was dry. Luckily no one was hurt."
"When I took off my racing suit after the race, my chest was full of black stones," he continued.

The Spaniard hopes that the manager of the Mandalika Circuit will repair the asphalt for next season's race. Because it will be very dangerous for the riders.
"They need to fix it, because it's a bit dangerous. Let's see. They said they will re-pave for next year, for all tracks," he said.
Previously, a number of points on the Mandalika Circuit track had been re-paved before the race. However, the re-paving did not seem ideal considering that it was carried out in a short time.
General Manager of Roadgrip Motorsport Indonesia (RMI) as the main contractor for the construction of the Mandalika Circuit, Simon Gardini once said, usually, this kind of surface is done longer, three or four months before the event is held.
"So we will wait when the bikes get to the track to see how it goes in that short time," he said on the official MotoGP website after the re-paving at the Mandalika Circuit was completed.
