Indonesian Racing Legend Expects Mandalika Circuit Will Be Official Agenda For Pre-Season Test

JAKARTA – Indonesian racing legend Ahmad Jayadi was amazed by the character of the Mandalika Circuit. He estimates that the Indonesian pride circuit can be included in the official agenda for the MotoGP pre-season test every season.

This was conveyed by the former racer who had the same track as Valentino Rossi at the "Special Show: Highlight MotoGP Qatar & Preview Grand Prix of Indonesia" at Epiwalk Mall, Jakarta, on Monday, March 7

“The Mandalika circuit can be one of the circuits for official tests before MotoGP. So it's not just now that we want the Mandalika GP, but it is very possible that in the future Mandalika will become Dorna's official agenda for the pre-season test," said Jayadi.

The Mandalika Grand Prix is a newcomer to the MotoGP calendar for the 2022 season. As a new circuit, Mandalika must be included in the season test which took place on February 11-13.

However, Mandalika may not necessarily be the organizer for the pre-season tests in the coming seasons. However, it is not impossible that in the following season Mandalika will be included in the official agenda for pre-season tests.

Jayadi said that the possibility of Mandalika being included in the official pre-season test agenda was very open. This is supported by the character of the circuit which is very complete when compared to other tracks in Europe or Southeast Asia.

"I think the Mandalika circuit has its own character. Most of the other circuits are high speed, high speed, and corner, but in Mandalika it is very complete, there is a high-speed corner and there is a street. So when a racer can set up optimally in Mandalika, it will automatically be good at any circuit," he said.

Currently, the Mandalika Circuit is in the process of re-paving, which is targeted to be completed on Tuesday, March 8 tomorrow. The work was based on a recommendation from the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) Dorna Sport after the evaluation of the previous pre-season test.

Mandalika will be the second MotoGP series this season which will take place on March 18-20. The first series at the Losail International Circuit, Qatar, was completed on Sunday, March 6.
