The National Road Of Nanga Tepuai Village, Kapuas Hulu Was Submerged By A Meter Of Floods, Residents Were Forced To Rent A Raft To Cross
KAPUAS HULU - The national road in Nanga Tepuai Village, Hulu Gurung District, Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan, was flooded. As a result, traffic flow from Putussibau to Pontianak, the capital city of West Kalimantan and vice versa is disrupted.
"Due to the flood, the national road in Tepuai is currently inaccessible to low-sized vehicles, except for tall vehicles such as tankers carrying fuel oil," said Head of Hulu Gurung H Bahar sub-district when contacted in Putussibau Kapuas Hulu, Antara, Friday, February 11.
Flood puddles on the national road are found at several points, such as in front of the Tepuai High School, in front of the Tepuai Grand Mosque and around the Tepuai Bridge. The floodwater level reaches about one meter above ground level. To cross the floodwaters, said Bahar, motorists of two-wheeled vehicles use crossing services (rafts) from local residents.
According to him, flooding has occurred since Friday morning due to the high intensity of rain, causing a number of rivers to overflow.
"The current conditions seem to be receding, but it is feared that it will rain again, so the floodwaters will deepen," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Kapuas Hulu Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Gunawan, said that currently flooding has hit several villages in three sub-districts, namely Silat Hilir District, Silat Hulu District, and Hulu Gurung District.
"The reports we received were that floods occurred in three sub-districts, and even submerged the national road in Nanga Tepuai," said Gunawan.
