The National Team Releases 2020 AFF Cup Squad, No Persija Players For The First Time

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team has released 30 names of players who will play in the 2020 AFF Cup this December. However, from the list, there is not a single Persija Jakarta player.

Cited from Antara, this is the first time for the national team without the presence of Persija players. In fact, the Kemayoran Tigers are a club that regularly sends its players to the national team since Indonesia participated in the 1998 AFF Cup or the second edition.

Call it starting from the old era of Widodo C. Putro to the era of Andritany Ardhiyasa. Andritany's name even regularly contributes to the national team in the last two editions of the AFF Cup.

In 2018, Persija also did not miss sending two mainstay names to strengthen the national team. They are Andritany and Riko Simanjuntak.

Unfortunately, this year, when the national team was created by Shin Tae-Yong, two of the Persija players who were regulars for the national team were absent. The South Korean coach did not call Andritany and Riko.

Actually, there is one name for Persija's representative, namely, Ryuji Utomo. But Shin Tae-yong called him for his performance with the club that borrowed him, namely, Penang FC, so Ryuji's name actually entered the slot for a player from a foreign club.

The Indonesian national team itself will compete in the 2020 AFF Cup from 5 December 2021 to 1 January 2022 in Singapore. Before appearing, the Garuda squad first underwent a training camp and several trials in Turkey for more than two weeks.

When he first arrived in Turkey, Shin Tae-yong only brought 25 names of players. However, the coach then released five additional names to be included in Singapore.

The following are the names of 30 players who will strengthen the national team in the 2020 AFF Cup competition in Singapore.
