Demanded The Death Penalty, Five Owners Of 77 Kg Of Methamphetamine In Aceh Will File A Plea
ACEH - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the East Aceh District Prosecutor's Office has charged five defendants with possession of 77 kilograms of methamphetamine with the death penalty.
The demands were read out by Public Prosecutor Cherry Arida, Harry Arfhan, and M Ikbal Zakwan at a trial at the Idi District Court, East Aceh Regency, in East Aceh, Tuesday, November 30.
The trial with the panel of judges was chaired by Apriyanti and accompanied by T Almadian and Reza Bastira Siregar respectively as member judges.
The five defendants are Saiful Syarkawi, Martunis, Tajul Kamal, Rahmat bin Rusli, Fadli bin M Yahya Hasan. The defendants attended the trial virtually from the Class IIB Idi Penitentiary, East Aceh, where they were detained.
The Public Prosecutor stated that the defendants were legally proven guilty of violating Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.

In addition to demanding the death penalty, the Public Prosecutor also demanded evidence in the form of a motorboat used to carry 75 packages inside containing methamphetamine with a gross of 77,670 grams that were confiscated for the state.
After listening to the prosecutor's demands, the defendant through his legal advisor stated that he would file a memorandum of defense. The panel of judges continued the trial this week with the agenda of hearing the defense memorandum of the defendants. This was reported by Antara.
