Mediation Of Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan And Haris Azhar's Case Failed Three Times, What Is The Next Step?
JAKARTA - The case of alleged defamation between the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan with Haris Azhar and Fatia Maulidianti seems endless. Police efforts to reconcile the two sides have always failed.
There have been three attempts at mediation. However, one of the parties is always absent from the mediation schedule.
In the first mediation process on October 21, the two parties failed to meet. The reason was that the police had an official schedule at that time.
Thus, the mediation process was postponed until November 1. However, on that occasion, Luhut could not attend the mediation process on the grounds that he was in Italy accompanying President Joko Widodo in the activities of the G20 Summit.
Therefore, the police rescheduled again on November 15. However, this time it was Haris Azhar and Fatia who were not present. The reason for their absence is not clear.
After three times the mediation process seemed unsuccessful, Luhut spoke up. He stated that he did not want any more mediation and felt that it would be better if the case was continued until the trial process.
"If the process is complete, I have conveyed it. I think it's better to meet in court, there's no problem," said Luhut at the Metro Jaya Police, Monday, November 15.

The reason for his refusal to mediate as a settlement of the case, said Luhut, was because the parties reported were never present at the mediation invitation. Thus, the legal process is considered the best solution in its settlement.
"No need, just in court," said Luhut.
In fact, Luhut stated that the trial process would prove who was guilty. Thus, the issues circulating will be proven true.
"Later, if he's wrong, it's wrong, if I'm wrong, it's just like that," said Luhut
On a separate occasion, Haris Azhar stated that he was absent from the mediation schedule because his colleague, Fatia, was also unable to attend. So, it was decided not to fulfill together.
"Because Fathia can't, I can't attend, I can't agree on something without him. We'll be reported together," said Haris.
Meanwhile, regarding Luhut's statement that he wanted to take the case to court, Haris admitted that he was ready in this regard.
"From yesterday it was actually ready. In fact, from the reports of friends who were discussed in my discussion, they have been processed to many places, yes, the Komnas HAM has also been done. So actually we are in a position to report, we are advocating the findings," he said.
In fact, Haris also emphasized that in this case, he was innocent. Because his statement is based on the evidence he has.
"I wasn't wrong, he just accused me of being wrong," said Haris.
This case began when Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan reported Haris Azhar and Fatia to the Metro Jaya Police. This report relates to Haris Azhar and Fatia's statements on YouTube content. Where, the video content is entitled 'There is Lord Luhut Behind Intan Jaya's Economic Relations-Military Ops, BIN General Also Exists'.
In the report, Haris Azhar and Fatia are suspected of violating Article 45 in conjunction with Article 27 of the ITE Law. Not only criminal, but Luhut will also sue Haris Azhar and Fatia Maulidianti in a civil manner.
