Nigerian Citizen Dies After Commotion At West Jakarta Detention Center, Family Asks For Autopsy
JAKARTA - Head of Public Relations and General Affairs of the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Arya Pradhana Anggakara confirmed, Kingsley Chukwuebuka alias KC (35) a Nigerian citizen who died at the Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) West Jakarta, allegedly due to a heart attack and fatigue.
According to Arya, before he died, Kingsley and several other Nigerian detainees had fought physically against Rudenim officers and officers from the Kalideres Police who were assisting with security. The detainees refused to be transferred to another cell block.
"The transfer of this detainee was chaotic, so the officers stopped the process and carried out persuasion to the detainee. The officer found a detainee named Kingsley Chukwuebuka already looking weak and tired. Kingsley was taken to the hospital, then he was declared dead," said the Head of Public Relations and General Affairs of the Directorate General of Immigration. Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Arya Pradhana Anggakara in his official statement, Thursday, November 11.
The team of doctors, he continued, had given a pacemaker with the approval of Kingsley's wife, whose initials were FR, an Indonesian citizen (WNI).

In addition, Arya continued, the doctor also asked Kingsley's medical history to his wife and provided information that Kingsley had a history of hypertension and heart disease since 2018.
"According to his wife's confession, Kingsley is known to have hypertension and heart disease. This is evidenced by the results of Kingsley's medical records when he was handed over to the Jakarta Rudenim on August 27, 2021," he said.
Meanwhile, Kalideres Police Chief Commissioner Hasoloan Situmorang is still waiting for the autopsy results of the Nigerian citizen (WN) initials KC (31) who was found dead at the Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) office, Kalideres, West Jakarta.
"The request from the family for an autopsy. We are still waiting for the results from the forensic doctor," said Kompol Hasoloan when contacted by VOI, Thursday, November 11.
Initially the victim's initials KC was reported to have fallen unconscious and was then taken to the Mitra Keluarga Hospital by the Rudenim and declared dead.
"The body has been referred to the Cipto Mangunkusomo General Hospital (RSCM) for checking by medical personnel. To find out the cause of his death," said the police chief.
