Governor Expects Prosecutor's Office To Complete All Corruption Handling In North Maluku

North Maluku (Malut) Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba Lc expects law enforcement, especially the High Prosecutor's Office and the District Attorney's Office in the area to resolve all cases handled, especially corruption cases.

"We hope that the handling of corruption cases reported or complained to be completed by the work units of both the High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) and the District Attorney's Office (Kejari)," Abdul said after opening public consultations through the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) in collaboration with the North Maluku Provincial Government (Pemprov) and the North Maluku Attorney General's Office in Ternate, Friday, September 15, was confiscated by Antara.

He said the complaint reports regarding local governments included BUMD, provincial governments, district/city governments and village governments.

This, he said, is in line with Article 1 of Law Number 11 of 2021 concerning Amendments to Law Number 16 of 2004 concerning the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Indonesia, which is a Government Institution whose function is related to the power of justice that carries out state power in the field of prosecution and other powers based on law.

Furthermore, Article 30 paragraph (1) letter d regulates the duties and authorities of the prosecutor's office to investigate certain crimes, including criminal acts of corruption.

According to Abdul, during 2022, prosecutors throughout Indonesia received reports of complaints related to local governments of 822, while in 2023 to June 2023 a report of complaints from local governments of 425 had been received.

"Apart from the prosecutor's office as a law enforcement officer, the Provincial and Regency/City Inspectorate as the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) also received complaints related to local governments. Acceptance of complaint reports by the Prosecutor's Office and APIP caused several problems related to overlap (duplicities) handling complaint reports," he said.

This, he continued, creates uncertainty in the handling of public complaint reports so that it can reduce public confidence in legal certainty and justice.
