Meta Temporarily Changes Comment Settings on Facebook During the Hamas - Israel Conflict

JAKARTA - Following the attacks carried out by Hamas against Israel last week, and Israel's response in Gaza, Facebook introduced a series of measures to address the surge in the spread of dangerous and potentially harmful content on its platform.

However, in an effort to protect people in the region from potentially unwanted or unwanted comments, Meta is temporarily changing users' default comment settings on Facebook as part of its response to the Israel-Hamas war.

Through this update, Meta has changed the default setting where newly created public Facebook posts will be restricted and can only be commented on by old friends or followers.

"Users around the world can choose to use these settings and opt-in or opt-out at any time, and we're notifying people in those regions with specific instructions on how to change these settings," Meta explained in its announcement.

In addition, Meta said it made it easier for Facebook users to delete comments in bulk and disabled a feature that usually displays the first one or two comments below a post in the Feed.

Meta has also fixed a bug impacting all Stories reshares of Reels and Feed posts on Instagram over the past week, where they did not appear correctly in other people's stories.

Furthermore, Mark Zuckerberg's company also prevents people from broadcasting Live on Facebook for a short time.

On the other hand, Meta claims to have launched a Profile Lock tool that allows people to lock their Facebook profiles in one step.

So with this feature, people who are not friends cannot download, zoom, or share profile photos, and they also cannot see other posts or photos on someone's profile, regardless of when they posted them.
