Hylo Open 2023: Dejan/Gloria Dramatic Struggle To Quarter Finals

JAKARTA - Mixed doubles pair Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja qualified for the quarter-finals of the Hylo Open 2023.

They got tickets to the top eight after being forced to play rubber games 21-14, 19-21, and 21-15 by the United States mixed doubles, Presley Smith/Allison Lee, Thursday, November 2, 2023.

In the first game, Dejan/Gloria played very tight for the first ten points. However, after 5-5, both of them drove comfortably and lead five points at the interval.

After the break the opponent tried to catch up, but they were only able to cut the smallest point distance by two.

It happened when they got five points in a row after Dejan/Gloria added one point after the interval. As a result, the Indonesian representatives were comfortable securing the first game.

In the second game Dejan/Gloria played much tighter until they were two points behind during the break. They then fell far behind before getting up and equalizing 16-16.

The same score occurred three more times after that. The opponent then scored two consecutive points to force the match to continue into the deciding game.

At the start of the last game, Dejan/Gloria lost three points in a row before rising to a narrow lead with a one-point lead in the interval.

The hot game is still being presented after that, but the position of 12-12 is the last chance for the opponent to identify the score.

Dejan/Gloria then locked the victory and confirmed themselves as Indonesia's first representative to the quarter-finals.
