FIBA World Cup 2023: Brazil Is Too Strong For Iran

JAKARTA - The Brazilian national team won on the second day of the 2023 FIBA World Cup at the Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, Saturday, August 26. Brazil overthrowed Iran with a striking score, 59-100.

This victory further extended Brazil's record victory over Iran at the FIBA World Cup. Previously, Brazil recorded a record of three consecutive wins from their last three matches against Iran.

Victory is absolutely Brazil's place since the first quarter. Conti Gustavo's team continued to lead points and were less overtaken until the end of the match.

Brazil had recorded a difference in the highest points of up to 42 points, with the highest score rate reaching 14-0. They lead the game almost 40 minutes of playing time.

Caboclo Bruno became Brazil's highest scorer with 16 points, followed by Santos Yago who added 14 points, Soares Team 13 points, and Benite Vitor contributed 12 points.

Brazil has a 55 percent shot accuracy, or 35 successes from 64 shots made (35-64). The success rate of the two-point shot reached 70 percent, and for a 76 percent free throw.

Meanwhile, from Iran, Aghajanpour Matin scored the most points, although only 11 points, and Ehaddadi Hamed 10 points. Iran's shot accuracy was only 37 percent.

At the start of the second half, the Brazilian squad had to accept a loss because one of its players Togni Raul Neto suffered a serious injury from falling while running under the opponent's ring. He even had to be stretched out when the third quarter left seven minutes 51 seconds of playing time.

Iran's defeat also extended its poor record at the FIBA World Cup by winning just four games from 16 of its games in the event.

Furthermore, Iran will face Ivory Coast on Monday, August 28. Meanwhile, Brazil will face a tough team, namely Spain on the same day.
