PSG Needs One More Point To Make History In Ligue 1 France

JAKARTA Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) currently only needs one more point to defend France's Ligue 1 title after its latest win over Auxerre.

The Parisian giant is currently collecting 84 points after Kylian Mbappe's two goals (brace) brought them to secure a 2-1 victory over host Auxerre at the Abbae Deschamps Stadium, Monday, May 22 in the morning WIB.

The result made Les Parisiens even more steady at the top of the standings. They are six points ahead of Lens who are trailing in second place with two games remaining.

Thus, PSG requires only one additional point to officially ensure the second straight and ninth place in the last 11 seasons. The title of this season will be the 11th league title in the club's history.

That number automatically made Paris Saint-Germain make history in Ligue 1 as the team with the most title collections. They won one title from Marseille and Saint-Ministienne, each with 10 titles.

PSG previously equaled Marseille and Saint-Etienne's all-time record in French Ligue 1 last season. At that time, Les Parisiens finished at the top followed by Marseille in second place.

To make that history, PSG only needed to hold back the draw in the next match against RC Strasbourg Alsace at the Stade de la Meinau on Sunday, May 28.

Meanwhile, for Mbappe himself, the additional two goals above made him top Ligue 1's temporary top score list with 28 goals. He is temporarily two goals ahead of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.
