CIANJUR - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency, West Java, together with joint officers deployed heavy equipment to reopen access to provincial roads connecting sub-districts covered by landslides, precisely in Cibeber District, Wednesday, November 22.
Asep Sukma Wijaya, Head of BPBD Cianjur, said joint officers from BPBD and PUTR province were still cleaning up avalanche materials that closed all road runways using one heavy equipment unit and two dump trucks.
"The landslide material that closed the road runway of about 5 meters with an avalanche length of more than 20 meters occurred Wednesday morning due to heavy rain with an intensity of more than 5 hours, so the connecting road between sub-districts in the southern region was temporarily cut off," he said when contacted, Antara, Wednesday, November 22.
During the process of cleaning up the landslide material that blocked the main road access, his party together with the local police directed motorists to take alternative routes from Cibeber to Campaka District or vice versa.
His party targets that the route can be passed normally from both directions on Wednesday evening, because joint officers with one heavy equipment are still trying to get rid of landslide material in the form of rocks and trees of various sizes and make temporary handling efforts.
"Currently, the current has been able to pass, but the system has opened one-way closures, we hope that this evening it can be passed normally with the hope that heavy rains will not fall before the evening and temporary handling efforts will be carried out on landslide cliffs," he said.
His party noted that during the last two weeks, his party had completed more than 10 landslides that occurred, closing the road runway connecting sub-districts in the southern region starting from Cibeber, Sukanagara, Pagelaran, Cibinong, Tanggeung and Naringgul.
"We ask road users to continue to increase their vigilance and be careful when crossing landslide-prone lanes throughout the Cianjur area, especially when it rains heavily, it is better to stop in a safe place before continuing the journey," he said.
He added, according to information from the BMKG in the next few days, most of the Cianjur area has started to be hit by high-intensity rain, making it prone to natural disasters, so residents in all regions are asked to be alert and alert and evacuate immediately when they see natural signs of a disaster.
