Foreign Minister Retno Strongly Condemns Attack On Indonesian Hospitals In Gaza, There Has Been No News From Three Indonesian Citizens Who Become Volunteers

JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said Indonesia strongly condemns the attack on Indonesian hospitals in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, which killed a number of civilians.

"Indonesia condemns Israel's attacks on Indonesian hospitals in Gaza that killed a number of civilians," said Foreign Minister Retno of Beijing, citing a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Monday, November 20.

"The attack is a real violation of international humanitarian law," he stressed.

All countries, continued Foreign Minister Retno, especially those with close ties to Israel, must use all their influence and ability to urge Israel to stop its atrocities.

He further explained that related to the three Indonesian citizens who volunteered at the hospital, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs still lost contact with them.

"I myself have contacted UNRWA in Gaza, to inquire about the situation of Indonesian hospitals and get an answer, that UNRWA also cannot make contact with anyone in Indonesian hospitals at this time," he said.

"I have also tried to contact WHO and the International Red Cross, but have not received any answers," he continued.

However, Foreign Minister Retno ensured that her party would continue to communicate with various parties, to obtain information about Indonesian hospitals and the safety of the three Indonesian citizens.

"We also continue to coordinate with Mer-C Jakarta. And let's pray that they are safe and always given the protection of Allah SWT," said Foreign Minister Retno.

Previously, at least 12 people were killed and dozens injured as a result of an attack on Indonesian hospitals in North Gaza on Monday, the health ministry in the region said, as quoted by Anadolu.

In a statement, the ministry warned the lives of thousands of patients, medical personnel and refugees "are at risk of death from direct and repeated bombings at Indonesian hospitals."

Separately, the official Palestinian news agency, Wafa, previously reported eight people as a result of Israeli artillery fire against the health facility.

According to the news agency, there were 150 patients, 100 medical staff and thousands of refugees in the facility.
