Members Of The Medan Bawaslu Get OTT, Bawaslu: Coreng Is An Institutional Good Name!

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) responded to the North Sumatra Police's (North Sumatra) arrest operation that arrested members of the Medan Bawaslu Azlansyah Hasibuan. Member of the Indonesian Bawaslu Lolly Suhenty emphasized that this incident damaged the good name of Bawaslu as an election organizing institution (election). "The OTT incident that occurred in one of the commissioners of the Medan City Bawaslu has tarnished the good name of the institution and is our serious concern," Lolly told reporters, Friday, November 17. Lolly said that his party respects the legal process, including the principle of presumption of innocence to the person concerned, until there is a legal court decision that has permanent legal force. Now, Bawaslu has disabled Azlansyah from his position because of the legal case that ensnared him. "Bawaslu in this case will provide full support to law enforcement officials to be able to investigate and enforce the legal process as well as possible," he said.

For information, the North Sumatra Police arrested Azlansyah who served as the Coordinator of the Prevention Division, Community Participation and Public Relations of the Medan City Bawaslu at a Medan City hotel. Azlansyah was arrested along with two civilians. They were arrested on suspicion of extortion against a candidate for legislative member of the Medan City DPRD. In his report, the victim found it difficult by Azlansyah in managing administrative completeness in the nomination requirements as a DPRD candidate. Currently, Azlansyah has been named a suspect and detained. He was charged with Article 12 Letter e or Article 11 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1e Criminal Code.
