PALU - Central Sulawesi Regional Police (Sulteng) has named former Chancellor of Tadulako University (Untad) and a student as suspects in a criminal case suspected of violating the Electronic Transaction Information Law (ITE).

"Based on the results of the case title, on October 30, 2023, investigators named two suspects, namely MBC (62) who is a former Chancellor of Untad and SB (23) a student with master's degree," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Sulawesi Police Kombes Djoko Wienartono in Palu, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 7.

Allegations of criminal acts in the field of ITE committed are in the form of threats of violence and personal intimidation through WhatsApp social media on June 6, 2023 at around 19.33 WITA.

"Investigators have examined five witnesses and four experts, including linguists, digital forensic experts, ITE experts and criminal experts," he said.

In addition, in this case, investigators have also confiscated evidence in the form of a screenshot or screenshot of WhatsApp messages containing threats, two iPhone units, one Samsung A7 tab unit and three WhatsApp accounts.

This case of threat of violence was reported by a Untad lecturer who was a victim, after conducting an investigation and investigation and a case title, two suspects were named.

He explained that MBC is scheduled to undergo an examination today (7/11), while SB should have been examined this week, but due to being unable to get sick, it will be rescheduled.

In addition to the ITE case suspect, MBC is also a suspect in the alleged corruption case (Tipikor) at the International Publication and Collaborative Center (IPCC) for IDR 1.7 billion in the Untad environment.

The case was handled by the Central Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati), and is currently a detainee entrusted by the prosecutor at the Class IIA Palu Detention Center (Rutan).
