Megawati Warns PDIP Cadres: Don't Look At Changing Parties

Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri reminded her cadres to always be consistent. They must imitate the attitude of the First President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno or Bung Karno who always fights for anything, including Indonesian independence.

This was conveyed in a political speech in an internal meeting attended by hundreds of PDIP cadres and broadcast online, Monday, October 16. This activity is in order to inaugurate 27 party office buildings, a number of new historical buildings such as hospitals, roads, and Bung Karno statues.

"I ask you to be consistent. If you are already a member of the party, don't look around anymore to change parties. There is no dedication of life," said Megawati, quoted from PDIP's official YouTube show.

The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia then reminded how Bung Karno faithfully fought for independence from the invaders. In fact, he was imprisoned in the process.

"So, imagine, at the age of 16, he (Bung Karno, ed) was already in and out of prison, in Banceuy, Sukamiskin, and also for Indonesia's independence he never subsided his fighting spirit, then with great enthusiasm he submitted his lawsuit through a court called Indonesia suing," he said.

"You have to read, lo. In order to understand why you want to become PDI-P in the struggle. This fighting spirit should be a party culture," continued Megawati.

Megawati also reminded that the choice to enter PDIP was not due to coercion. So, the cadres are reminded not to be arbitrary.

"Don't just use black, I am PDI Perjuangan. It doesn't mean anything, because those who want to enter are you, not you tell them," he said.

Furthermore, in front of his cadre Megawati also reminded her cadres not to forget history.

"As a member of the PDI-P, if you don't know Pancasila, that's strange. So, inhale into your hearts, because that's where we move, to know why we have to follow Pancasila, because Pancasila in that field we work together," concluded Megawati.
