Government Prepares Prisons With Extra Security In Nusa Kambangan For Drug Crimes

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD revealed that the government is preparing correctional institutions (prisons) with extra security on Nusa Kambangan Island, Central Java, specifically for drug crimes. "The Ministry of Law and Human Rights has prepared a super secure prison or prison, which will also be reviewed by the president for an inauguration, maybe in Nusa Kambangan," Mahfud said after attending a limited meeting (ratas) on drug handling at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, October 12, confiscated by Antara. Mahfud said drug crimes in Indonesia are currently very massive. According to him, the most victims came from users, causing the prison to become very crowded. Therefore, he continued, the National Police together with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) will implement various special actions for drug dealers and dealers.

Meanwhile, the Head of BNN Komjen Pol. Petrus Reinhard Golose separately stated the same thing that the Government would open a special prison for drug cases with maximum safety. "The prison will be special maximum security, specifically for narcotics," said Petrus. In the limited meeting, he said, Jokowi gave directions for his staff to cooperate with all stakeholders to carry out a measurable narcotics prevention program and with extraordinary steps. According to Petrus, so far BNN has collaborated with the TNI and Polri as well as related ministries and non-ministerial government agencies (K/L) in dealing with narcotics.
