Gather Religious Leaders And Human Rights Activists, Vice President Discusses Papua Peace

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin In Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA)

JAYAPURA - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin met with dozens of interfaith leaders to human rights activists (HAM) in Jayapura, Papua, Tuesday afternoon, to discuss accelerating development and sustainable peace.

"Today (the Vice President) is gathering with human rights activist figures who have been carrying out advocacy activities on strategic issues, social, humanitarian, religious and context of peace," said Deputy for Government Policy Support and National Insight of the Vice Presidential Secretariat Felix Fernando Wanggai when opening a discussion at the Papua Governor's Building, Jayapura City.

Felix said the activity, which was carried out behind closed doors for 45 minutes, was expected to support the government's agenda for sustainable peace and welfare in Papua in accordance with the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

There were a number of figures from Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah, religious circles, and the volunteer organization Elsham Papua along with representatives of human rights activists in the local area.

Also present was to give a speech from the former chairman of the Senode in Papua, Herman Saud.

The Animal Presidential Team provides an opportunity for each participant representative to express their aspirations directly to Vice President Ma'ruf Amin for a maximum duration of 3 to 4 minutes.

Also accompanying the Vice President, the Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin as the Ad Interim of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi Wetipo, and Acting Governor of Papua Ridwan Ruikutun.

The activity was closed with the delivery of views and suggestions from the Vice President and his accompanying officials to the participants.
