Drought Emergency Response, Garut BPBD Assessment 8 Water Sources To Be Distributed To Residents

The Garut Regency BPBD conducted an assessment of 8 water sources that could irrigate residential areas, especially those affected by drought.

"There are eight registered locations of water sources, and they can still increase", said Head of Garut Regency BPBD, totaling Anwar Saefulloh in Garut, West Java (West Java), Friday, September 29, which was confiscated by Antara.

She explained that Garut had set a Drought Disaster Emergency Response for 21 days until September 24, 2023. This effort was accompanied by steps to distribute clean water, as well as use water sources to irrigate people's water needs.

Areas affected by drought, he continued, there were 19 out of 42 sub-districts in Garut with 85,010 people affected or 24,391 families (KK), all of whom are still supplied with clean water needs.

In addition, he said, the local government during the Emergency Response conducted an inventory, as well as an assessment of clean water sources in Garut Regency.

"Conducting an assessment and study on the feasibility of the water source to be proposed or recommended to the leadership," he said.

He said that the water sources that can be used for the community are spread across four locations in Ciudian Village, Singajaya District, namely the Ciudian water source in Bantarsari Village which can irrigate 80 families. Furthermore, the water source is protected in Cibogo Village which can irrigate 110 families.

Furthermore, the source of the Ciasahan water in Cinayawati Village can irrigate 90 families, and the Cipetir water source in Ciudian Village which can irrigate 147 families.

Then, the water source in Pancasura Village, Singajaya District has a Cicandra water source in Cideot Village which can irrigate 5 villages with 273 families. Furthermore, the Cibuntu water source in Bojongdengkeng Village, Toblong Village, Peundeuy District can irrigate 527 families.

In other areas, Sukajaya Village, Malangbong District, there is a source of Cieurih water in Ciawitali Village which can irrigate 70 families, and a Gempol water source in Ciawitali Village which can irrigate 60 families.

"The water source in Garut is likely to increase," he said.

He hopes that the existing water source can be a solution to overcome the water needs of the community during the next dry season.

"Next year what is happening now can be anticipated, and it will not happen again, and that will be together with the technical office," he said.
