President Jokowi Instructs West Java To IntegratePORTation With Bandung

BANDUNG - Acting Governor of West Java (Jabar) Bey Machmudin revealed that President Joko Widodo instructed the local provincial government to immediately take steps to integrate the bettersh high-speed train from Tegalluar Station with other transportation to Bandung City.

Bey said this was instructed by President Jokowi in a limited meeting (ratas) regarding the integration of public transportation at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, because the President wanted him to connect with feeders, especially train type transportation at surrounding stations, to facilitate public access.

"We know thatodesh has been integrated from Padalarang Station to Bandung City Station using a feeder train. Other points such as Tegalluar will soon have a feeder train to Bandung City or its surrounding destination," Bey said in a statement in Bandung, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 27.

The President, said Bey, also asked West Java to immediately review the plan for the Light Rail Transit (Integrated Highway/LRT) which will integrate the southern Bandung region with the north as well as relieve congestion.

In implementing the plan, Bey said that his party plans to immediately discuss with the Ministry of Transportation to dig up more details of the LRT, so that the study is right on target and in accordance with conditions in the field.

In addition, said Bey, in the limited meeting, the President asked West Java to continue to intensify so that the transformation of private vehicles to public transportation continues to be socialized to the public.

"The President's directives for all transportation should be integrated to facilitate and move people from private transportation to public transportation," said Beypula.

The effect, he said, is that congestion in metropolitan areas such as Greater Bandung or Jabodetabek can be reduced, and losses due to congestion can be degraded which reaches tens or even hundreds of trillions of rupiah.

"So the President reminded that there must be special innovations in the development or integration of public transportation," said Bey.
