Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka said he was willing to follow the rules regarding alleged violations of neutrality as regional head ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous Election.

"Yes, just love the rules," said Gibrandi, Surakarta City, Central Java, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 22.

He is also willing to follow directions from the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) if he is proven to have committed a violation related to neutrality.

"Whatever the decision, I will follow from Bawaslu. Ready (to receive sanctions)," said President Joko Widodo's first son.

Regarding the alleged violation by Gibran, Bawaslu emphasized regional heads who expressed support and invited the public to support certain presidential candidates (candidates) including violating Article 283 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.

Bawaslu member Lolly Suhenty said that his party had reviewed and analyzed videos related to regional heads expressing their support for certain parties from a legal perspective.

"The incident regarding the support of the regional head for one of the figures who is predicted to be a presidential candidate, we then carried out a legal study, we also analyzed it. In our legal study, it violated Article 283," said Lolly.

Previously, there was a video of Gibran's invitation for the public to support Ganjar Pranowo's presidential candidate.

Surakarta City Bawaslu member Poppy Kusuma Nataliza said the video of support by regional heads, including by Gibran, was being handled by Bawaslu.

"So because the offense locus is not in Surakarta, then it is taken over by the Indonesian Bawaslu and handled there. Therefore, we are not the one who handles and processes. Yes, of course we respect it," said Poppy.
