Central Sulawesi Governor Instructs BPBD To Check The Location Of The Donggala Earthquake Point

Central Sulawesi Governor Rusdy Mastura instructed the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to directly inspect the location of the earthquake point in Donggala Regency.

"We received direct instructions from the Governor to directly inspect the location of the earthquake," said Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of Central Sulawesi Province BPBD Andy A. Sembiring in Palu as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 11.

Previously, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 rocked the Donggala area, Central Sulawesi, precisely located in the sea at a distance of 49 kilometers northwest of Donggala at a depth of 20 kilometers without the potential for a tsunami at 21:43 WIB, Saturday (9/9).

Andi Sembiring said the Central Sulawesi BPBD Rapid Response Team (TRC) had headed to the location of the earthquake in Balaesang and Balaesang Tanjung sub-districts, Donggala Regency to conduct field assessments.

"The temporary team moved to the location to conduct an assessment of the situation and needs," he said.

Currently, residents in the area are evacuating to a safer place. The impact of this incident is not yet known.

He appealed to the public not to be influenced by issues that cannot be justified. Residents are asked to temporarily avoid cracked buildings or damaged by the impact of the earthquake.

Other earthquake mitigation measures that can be carried out, he said, prepare a rescue plan in the event of an earthquake, understand the steps that must be taken when an earthquake occurs, prepare fire extinguishers, standard safety equipment, medicines, ensure earthquake-resistant houses, and pay attention to areas that are considered prone to earthquakes.
