1 Month 122 Fires, Bandar Lampung Firefighters Admit That 100 Personnel Need Additional

LAMPUNG - The Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat) of Bandar Lampung City needs 100 additional personnel to anticipate the fire incident in the local city.

"For the number of additional personnel needed 100 people. This number is in accordance with our needs," said Head of the Bandar Lampung City Government Fire and Rescue Service, Anthony, at Bandar Lampung, Monday, September 4, confiscated by Antara.

He said the addition of firefighters was in accordance with orders from the Mayor of Bandarlampung who assessed that the firefighters were still lacking.

"Especially for the personnel guarding the post in 14 sub-districts," he said.

He revealed that currently every post in the sub-district only has 4 personnel on standby, while ideally it is seven people according to service standards to the community.

"Each fire post is currently filled with 3-4 guard personnel. But ideally it is 7 personnel, so it is necessary to add it so that it is in accordance with the minimum service standards," he said.

However, the addition of these personnel is still waiting for directions from the Regional Personnel Agency (BKD), because according to the rules of the Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) it is no longer able to appoint new honorary staff.

"The addition of personnel will be regulated by the BKD. So it is possible that later it will cooperate with the transfer of honorary officers from other regional apparatus organizations (OPD) that enter us and later they will be given basic training," he said.

Bandarlampung Mayor Eva Dwiana said that the addition of firefighters was to improve services in the city.

"To improve services later, we will add firefighters and cars," he said.

Based on data from the Bandarlalung City Damkarmat until August 2023, the number of fires in the local city was 122 times. Where the highest intensity was in August with 35 fires.
