Jakarta's Worst Air Quality Number 1 In The World On Sunday Morning

JAKARTA - Air quality in Jakarta again occupies the first position as the city with the worst air in the world on Sunday, August 13 morning. Based on data from the IQAir air quality monitoring site at 06.00 WIB, the air quality index (AQI) in Jakarta is at 170 or is categorized as unhealthy with PM2.5 air pollution. The air quality monitoring site with the latest time also lists Jakarta as the worst air city in the world. After Jakarta, the cities with the worst air quality next are Dubai (UAE) and Johannesburg (South Africa). A number of areas in Jakarta are even categorized as very unhealthy with an air quality index above 201, namely East Cilandak with numbers 206 and Kebayoran Lama with numbers 206. On the previous occasion, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) Asep Kuswanto said that the cause of bad air in the capital city in recent times was due to the dry season. "Indeed, July to September is usually the dry season is reaching its highest. So it does result in poor air quality air conditions," Asep said during a press conference at the Directorate General of Environmental Pollution and Damage Control Building, East Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Friday, August 11. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has also prepared three strategies. First, a strategy to improve governance which means that DLH DKI will control air pollution through various policies and regulations. Second, the strategy to reduce air pollution emissions. One of them is by intensifying emission tests and the use of public transportation.

Finally, the DKI Provincial Government appealed to all residents to check air quality conditions through applications according to national standards such as Jakarta Kini (JAKI), the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), or the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU).
