GORONTALO - North Gorontalo Police Chief, AKBP Andik Gunawan appealed to the people in the area to jointly prevent the circulation of hard drugs without a prescription.
"We managed to secure two suspected perpetrators of possessing and drug dealers without a doctor's prescription with a specific purpose and deliberately seeking personal gain. Even though the act of deliberately distributing hard drugs or unlabeled drugs is one of the crimes," Andik said when releasing the case at the Gorontalo Police, quoted from Antara, Sunday, August 13.
The arrests were made by the Narcotics Unit and succeeded in confiscating 44 types of hard drugs of the Trihexyphenidyl type and one small bag of drug without name and label in the Biau District or the western part of the district.
The perpetrators are known to have the initials YY (23) and AH (24), residents of Tolinggula Ulu Village, Tolinggula District. Both are suspected of buying the drug online from Jakarta and being sent via goods delivery or expedition services.
The drug Trihexyphenidyl is a type of sedative that must use specialist doctor prescriptions to make purchases at pharmacies. The two suspects do not have a doctor's prescription. So it is suspected that the drug will be sold without permission.
The total value of 44 pieces of Trihexyphenidyl costs IDR 60 million per item for IDR 15 thousand. Meanwhile, small round yellow medicines without names and labels are not yet known.
"We will immediately coordinate with the BPOM to find out the type of drug," said Andik.
Currently both of them have been named as suspects. The case is currently in the fingerprint stage to determine whether the two of them will be detained immediately.
Trihexyphenidyl is a type of sedative that is usually given to patients with parkinson. So the purchase was declared illegal because it was not accompanied by a doctor's prescription.
Both of them were charged with the Health Law article 197 with a maximum imprisonment of 15 years.
He also said Andik, in collaboration with pharmacies, official drug stores and shipping services, to inform if there is a purchase of hard drugs without a doctor's prescription that is carried out by forcing or in large quantities.
"Please report to us if you find it, it will definitely be followed up immediately. Including making joint efforts to prevent the entry of drugs that threaten the health of the nation's children," he said.
Police Chief Andik said the case of arresting the purchase of hard drugs without a doctor's prescription reached three times throughout 2023.
"We act quickly to follow up, cooperate with the community and relevant stakeholders, to prevent drug abuse and drugs," he added.
