Roads In Bengkulu Improved After Jokowi's Visit

BENGKULU - The road from Simpang Lais to the Polwan Monument, North Bengkulu Regency began to be repaired after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) traveled through the route during a visit to Bengkulu.

"Because Mr. President Joko Widodo passed there, the priority was from the Polwan Monument to the Lais Intersection, the first contract, now around Rp40 billion is being worked on," said Acting Head of the Bengkulu Provincial PUPR Office, Tejo Suroso, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 10.

Meanwhile, the road segment from Simpang Lais to Jalan D6 Bengkulu Utara construction is carried out in the second phase of construction.

"If I'm not mistaken, later this year the budget will be disbursed, the two roads that have been built are provincial roads, and the repairs are included in the Presidential Instruction," he said.

The construction of provincial, district and city roads carried out by the central government, said Tejo, is an effort to increase the percentage of decent and steady conditions for regional roads.

For Bengkulu Province, according to Tejo, it is not only the Girimulya-Tugu Polwan Road to Simpang Lais which is being worked on. He said there were 8 roads built through the Regional Road Development Instruction.

"For now, all information from the National Road Hall has been contracted, because it is targeted for the construction of the first phase until December 2023," he said.

Then, said Tejo, for the second phase in November-December 2023, it is known which sections are approved by the ministry.

"It is tendered at the end of the year and must be completed later in the second semester in 2024," said Tejo.
