BMKG Predicts New Rain Will Fall In November After Kemarau

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the new rainy season will occur around November after the dry dry dry dry season decreases in intensity in October.

Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati said the peak of the dry dry dry dry dry season occurred in mid-August to September with an increasing heat intensity.

"After entering October, it will start to decrease, it will decrease but it is still dry. Now it is predicted that this rain will be November," said Dwikorita at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 9.

Dwikorita explained that the weather phenomenon of El Nino is still happening. It even peaked in October-November. On the other hand, Indonesia benefited from the arrival of the rainy season starting November.

However, he continued, conditions are different in the West and East Nusa Tenggara regions, as well as South Papua, which is predicted to still experience a strong dry dry dry season until early December.

Therefore, he said, it is necessary to anticipate the food security in the area because it dried up water sources.

"Indeed, if we look at the field, the rivers seem to be starting to dry up, yes, the banks that are usually covered in water are able to play soccer times, because they have started to dry up," said Dwikorita.

With the dry dry dry dry season that is still happening until September, he also reminded the potential for forest and land fires (karhutla).

On Friday (4/8), the forest area in Gunung Rinjani National Park, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), experienced fires and flames that seemed to spread, causing smoke.

Dwikorita explained that the NTT and NTB areas do not have rainfall, so that the friction of the branches can also result in forest and land fires.

"The West-East Nusa Tenggara region, if the color on the map has been seen, it is getting blackder. This is getting drier, meaning that the rainfall is close to zero, so that naturally the wind is strong, the friction of the branches is also proven," he said.
