No Problem Ganjar Is Close To Yenny Wahid, Puan Maharani: PDIP Opens The Name Will Be Cawapres

Chairman of the PDI-P DPP Puan Maharani admitted that she had no problem with the close relationship between the presidential candidate (candidate) Ganjar Pranowo and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) figure Zannuba Ariffah Chafsoh or Yenny Wahid. Puan also said that some time ago she met the daughter of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) directly. Communication between Puan and Yenny went well. "I don't think there is a problem, yes. I met Mbak Yenny yesterday, everything is okay," said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Antara, Wednesday, August 9. Regarding Yenny Wahid's confession that he admitted to establishing an intense close relationship with Ganjar Pranowo, Puan invited him to ask directly to the person concerned. "Yes, (please) ask Mbak Yenny," he added. He emphasized that the PDI-P is open to including a number of options for the list of assistants for Ganjar Pranowo as a candidate for vice president (cawapres) for the 2024 General Election. "We are open to the inclusion of names on the list which will later become candidates for vice president," he said. Previously, Tuesday (8/8), Yenny Wahid did not deny that a number of parties approached him to discuss the offer to become a vice presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. Yenny admitted that she was ready to walk as a candidate for vice president in the 2024 presidential election and she was intensely communicating with Ganjar Pranowo. "I'm with Mas Ganjar, for example, yes, it's close as a friend because our community is the same. Then, my husband is also in UGM; so, his friend Mas Ganjar, as well as our friends, playmates," said Yenny at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday. Apart from Ganjar, Yenny also admitted that she was intensely communicating with several potential figures as candidates for president, such as Anies Baswedan as a candidate for presidential candidate from the Change Coalition for Unity (KPP) and Gerindra Party Chair Prabowo Subianto. To note, the registration of prospective presidential candidates (candidates) and vice presidential candidates (cawapres) is scheduled for October 19 to November 25, 2023. Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning the Election of presidential and vice presidential candidates, a political party or coalition of political parties participating in the election is proposed that meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR, or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament, so that pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It is also possible that the candidate pair will be promoted by a political party or a combination of parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
