JPO Iron Plate In Jakarta Often Stolen, DKI DPRD Blames Contractors

JAKARTA - Member of Commission D for the Development of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Nurhasan, blamed the performance of the implementing contractor who was the vendor of the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency for the projects to build pedestrian bridges (JPO) related to the theft of JPO footing iron plates in Jakarta.

"This is the responsibility of the vendor or entrepreneur who carried out the (JPO development). In my opinion, they are not very careful. How come the sheet (of iron plate) that big can be lost," said Nurhasan when contacted, Tuesday, August 8.

According to Nurhasan, if the contractor properly installs the JPO infrastructure, cases of theft of JPO plates will not occur repeatedly.

"He should have understood. It hasn't been tied up with bolts or welding. Logically, if he uses tools or strongly ties the frame of the bridge, of course it's impossible to remove it," said Nurhasan.

As a result of the repeated theft of JPO iron plates, Nurhasan urged the DKI Bina Marga Office to increase supervision of the work of its vendors in infrastructure development.

"Everyone must be responsible, both Bina Marga and implementers. Every implementation must have the name the minutes have been completed. Maybe the supervision of the implementers is not thorough. There needs to be inspections and supervision of the results of the implementing work," he explained.

Lack of supervision of public facilities actually harms the road users. As happened at JPO Sahabat, Jalan Raya Daan Mogot, Cengkareng District, West Jakarta. The stepping iron plate for pedestrians was stolen on August 2.

At least, there are four sheets of JPO iron floors that are missing, allegedly stolen by thieves. As a result of the loss of the floor of the iron plate, public access to cross the road through the JPO was blocked.

In fact, this is not the first time this has happened. In the first incident last June, there were 2 pieces of JPO iron floor plates that were missing and currently there are 4 pieces of iron floor plates that are missing again.

Then, another case of iron plate theft occurred at JPO Warung Hanger, Kalideres on the evening of Sunday, August 6. As a result of this incident, the West Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-dept. installed a safety line on the JPO section whose footing plate was lost.
