8 Hectares Of Land In Aceh Besar Burned

The land fire occurred in Aceh, which is entering the peak of the dry season, which scorched an area of eight hectares in the Gampong Alue Glong area, Seulimum District, Aceh Besar District.

"The last condition of the fire has been successfully extinguished," said BPBA Chief Executive Ilyas through the BPBA Disaster Management Operations Control Center (Pusdalops PB) in Banda Aceh as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 4.

He explained that the land fire occurred on Friday (4/8) 2023 at around 13.30 WIB. The area of land burned is about eight hectares.

Authorities are still conducting further investigations regarding the cause of the fire.

"It is suspected that the cause of the land fire was due to the opening of a new land by burning," he said.

According to Ilyas, when receiving information on the fire, the Aceh Besar BPBD immediately deployed five units of the fire fighting fleet (Damkar) from Pos Seulimum to the scene to extinguish the fire.

"Efforts to extinguish the fire are also supported by TNI personnel, Polri and the community. The fire was successfully extinguished at 17.15 WIB," said Ilyas.

Previously, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that in general the Aceh region had entered the peak of the dry season, so that several districts/cities in the province were advised to be aware of the potential for forest and land fires (karhutla).

"The Aceh area has started to enter the peak of the dry season," said BMKG Class I forecaster Sultan Iskandar Muda Aceh Besa, Nuria.

Currently, he said, in general the weather in the Aceh region is sunny, with quite dry humidity and ultraviolet light which is quite high and rainfall is also quite low.

When viewed from the dry humidity level, BMKG asked several areas in Aceh to be vigilant because of the potential for forest and land fires, including Banda Aceh, Aceh Besar, Pidie, Pidie Jaya, Aceh Jaya, East Aceh, Bener Meriah, and Central Aceh.

"People are advised to remain alert to the potential for forest and land fires and are advised not to burn forests on purpose because they are feared that they will spread quickly when the air is quite dry as it is today," said Nuria.
