PAN Calls Prabowo Subianto Has The Opportunity To Become A Presidential Candidate For The National Coalition

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Yandri Susanto, said that the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, has the opportunity to become a presidential candidate (candidate) from a large coalition called the National Coalition, the idea of five general chairmen of political parties (political parties). Although, Yandri emphasized that there has been no decision even about Prabowo's presidential candidate if this large coalition is formed. This opportunity, he said, was only based on the possibility that PAN had twice supported the defense minister in the presidential election. "Not yet there (Prabowo presidential candidate, ed), but Pak Prabowo really has the potential and PAN has been around for more than 10 years with Pak Prabowo, supporting Pak Prabowo 10 years. So Prabowo is very potential for us to support again," said Yandri in Kertanegara, South Jakarta, Saturday, April 8.

"Yes, there are all possibilities, including supporting Pak Prabowo," he continued. After the meeting of the General Chairmen of PAN Zulkifli Hasan and Prabowo this afternoon, Yandri said that his party would communicate the results of talks to the chairman of Golkar and PPP who are members of the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB). In the near future, PAN will also meet with the two political parties including PKB, which is a Gerindra coalition partner in the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KIR). "Yes, God willing (there will be another meeting, ed), indeed yesterday's meeting in PAN will have an intensive meeting with Golkar with PKB, PPP with Gerindra, God willing, continue communication," said the Deputy Chairperson of the MPR.

Meanwhile, PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan is still reluctant to confirm that his party will support Prabowo to run again as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. According to him, everything is still in the process of being discussed with other political parties. "This is a process. So this is a process. Talking about the process, of course, later visits to PDIP, later KIB will also meet with Gerindra, maybe it's complete, right, the name is communication or this process needs to run," said Zulhas in Kertanegara.
