G-Pluck Moment Meets Step Sister John Lennon: Presenting Song Girl And Julia

JAKARTA - There is a unique momentum when the tribute band The Beatles from Jakarta, G-Pluck, prepares to take the stage at the Liverpool International Beatleweek Festival 2023, Sunday (27/8) in the early hours of local time.

Appearing at the Crosby Suite Adelphi Liverpool Hotel, G-Pluck had the opportunity to meet the half-brother of The Beatles vocalist John Lennon, who was born Julia Dykins is the eldest daughter of Julia Lennon who is none other than John's biological mother to marry John Albert Dykins.

As a form of respect for Julia who was born on March 5, 1947, the band consisting of Awan Garnida (bass), Gilang Pramudya (guitar/vocals), Fery Gustian (guitar/vocals), Beni Pratama (drums), and Aufa Kantadiredja (keyboard/vocals) then sang the songs "Girls" and "July" at the voice checking session.

The song "Girl" comes from the 1965 album "Rubber Soul" attributable to John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Meanwhile, "Julya" was written by John Lennon while in India for his beloved mother and released in 1968.

"We are very happy with Julia's presence here. We feel the aura of John Lennon present. We will play two special songs for Julia. Hopefully you will always be happy and healthy, Julia," said Awan who was answered nod and a smile from Julia totaling.

On this occasion, Julia also shared a short story about John Lennon from his point of view so far. According to him, John is a cheerful figure and never forgets a big family member who has given him a successful path.

"I have known him quite well since he was little. We are six years apart, he is older than me. He is about 5 feet less tall. Paul (McCartney) is not as high as John, moreover Ringo (Starr). Since John moved to America, I have never met him again. But he always contacted Mimi (Yellow Elizabeth Smith, John's aunt) when Mimi was birthdays," explained Julia with an expression of his face.

Julia further said that the last moment he recalled with his half-brother was when John contacted Mimi about two weeks before the phenomenal musician was found shot dead.

"When contacting Mimi, John had said that he would return to Liverpool England," he recalled.

History then recorded another destiny when a young man named Mark David Chapman fired five shots from behind John Lennon as the musician was about to return to Dakota's apartment on December 8, 1980 in the city of New York.
