Philosophy And Meaning Of Bacuya, Badak Maskot World Cup U-17 2023
JAKARTA - After being officially appointed by FIFA to host, Indonesia immediately cleaned up and sangek to welcome the U-17 World Cup which was held in four cities, namely, Jakarta, Bandung, Solo and Surabaya.
In addition to field preparation and venues for matches taking place on November 10 - December 2, the 2023 U-17 World Cup cannot be separated from the figure of Bacuya as the iconic Maskot who is always present in every excitement to welcome the 2023 U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.
PSSI chose a rhino with the turn of one as the mascot figure which was later named Bacuya. Bacuya itself stands for Badak Cula Cahaya.
This weathered rhino refers to Indonesian native animals that are nearing extinction. Bacuya is expected to play an important role in inviting the public to come to the stadium to see young footballers compete.
Quoted from the Kemenpora page, the figure of Bacuya is described as a young Javan rhino who is very shy and quiet. Despite this characteristic, Bacuya's curiosity forced him to run steadfastly to the field like he wanted to find something.
Nuances of green grass motivated him until he discovered football. Suddenly something extraordinary happened, because the Bacuya horn, which was a beacon, then lit up with new colors and this moment changed Bacuya.
Every time Bacuya plays football with someone, his horn will shine brighter. The energy football gives to people is the same as the energy that illuminates Bacuya.
