Mandalika 2023 MotoGP Spectators Reach 102,929 People, This Is What Erick Thohir Said
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said the MotoGP racing market in Mandalika, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, has been formed.
This was proven by increasing the number of viewers in the second year.
Erick said that the total number of spectators at MotoGP 2023 reached 102,929 people.
The highest number occurred on race day, reaching 73,129 people. Meanwhile, in 2022, the number will be recorded at 102,801 people.
"This indicates that the market for the races that are included in the world calendar is starting to be mapped out. Starting from the market for spectators who come from Jakarta, or East Java, even from Bali and Lombok itself," said Erick, quoted from ANTARA, Monday, October 16.
According to Erick, this increase in the number of spectators should be a study for the Mandalika GP management, so that in the future there can be continued increase.
Furthermore, Erick asked the MotoGP management to present other events to attract more visitors.
"Additional activities will not only bring in spectators, but with exhibitions (micro, small and medium enterprises) MSMEs or similar, it will increase the attraction of foreign and local tourists in providing an economic impact and multiplier effect for the surrounding community," said Erick.
Erick also positively welcomed the collaboration and synergy carried out by state-owned companies, such as Injourney, ITDC, Pertamina, and other supporting state-owned companies so that this year's MotoGP race could run well.
According to him, the development and improvement of infrastructure has been carried out very carefully by the BUMNs involved so that the implementation of MotoGP this time is much better.
"I am optimistic that the 2023 Mandalika MotoGP will have a wider multiplier effect. If last year the national economic impact reached IDR 3.57 trillion from West Nusa Tenggara, then IDR 300 billion from Jakarta, and IDR 626.3 billion in several other regions, then the number should increase this year," said Erick.
